Why you should scan your Gmail’s Spam Mails

Today I scanned my Gmail Spam mails before deleting them ( I do this almost once a day blindly). I happen to see lods of mails from facebook and other social networks there. Now question is, whether Gmail has started marking mails from major social networks also as spam. If yes, then based on what criteria?

I think this piece of information will be very useful for the companies using Facebook as their media tool and quite much dependent.

Is there anyone who can answer this?

I personally feel that whatever notification comes from social networking sites in which one is not a member has to be treated as spam. BTB, why dont you mark this mail as “Not a Spam”, so that in future, this will not be considered as spam.

I agree wid u Dinakar. But facebook has its own anti spamming policy in place. So any group can’t send mass mails to other users. I end up missing useful updates comes from facebook on my gmail.

following the facts , the spam recognition thechniques of different mail service providers differ , but there is a common list of words that force a mail to be thrown in the spam bin , i have worked on a short asignment wherein i was given similar kind of analysis work and there i happen to see some shocking revelations of behaviour of the mail service providers.
yahoo goes by word based spamming , gmil by load based spamming.
